Charlie has over 30 years experience in public practice. He was a partner in GNP/BDO Binder for 17 years and a partner in O'Hurley Blair Irwin for over 13 years.

Current Assignments:

• Business assessment for civil engineering company
• Business development of Irish owned project management company in Poland presently fitting out Tesco stores, Deutsche Bank branches, WBK branches (AIB subsidiary) and other civil engineering projects throughout Poland.
• Feasibility studies for two franchise operators on operating in Polish shopping malls etc
• Feasibility studies on business parks, retail parks, apartment developments, hotels & leisure in the Krackow-Katowice area of Southern Poland - forecast population of 6m people & fastest economic growth area in Poland.
• Review of Irish civil engineering company for Irish bank as 'precondition' to draw down of development finance.
• Strategic planning & 10 year business plan for national sports operation including facility funding, corporate hospitality & event management

Previous consultancy experience:

• Corporate finance advisor to a national aggregates, concrete and asphalt products group, including venture capital and bank funding in excess of €60m+ per annum.
• Project management of due diligence audits both for the acquiring client and the disposer, including the sale of a national security company to a UK public company.
• Corporate finance advisor to a national road construction group, including working capital management and funding of two NRA national road projects with contract prices in excess of €60m each.
• Corporate finance advisor on funding of a major construction arbitration claim, which yielded in excess of €32m damages plus costs, which is the largest award in Irish history on a construction related project. Managed financing of legal costs in excess of €10m, provided expert witness evidence verifying the financial losses incurred by the claimant on breach of contract by the employer and provided financial and business support to the lead solicitors and barristers representing our client in the arbitration.
• Equity/tax efficient funding for a 60 bedroomed hotel, conference centre, leisure centre and spa in North Tipperary.
• Project managed the acquisition of a public Polish construction company by Irish investors from a Plc in the UK and the financial and management restructure of same. The company is now providing major 'kit-outs' for Tesco, Deutsche Bank and Lidl etc.
• Project financial management of the acquisition of pre-operation quarries in Poland and obtaining the relevant development finance in Poland.
• Project managed the business transition of a major company with net assets in excess of €100m from the founder directors of the business to the succeeding family and raising the necessary finance to facilitate same.
• Corporate finance advisor on the disposal of a national soft services company to a venture capital driven conglomorate.
• Disposal of an Irish towage & marine related business to a UK public company.
• Project managed acquisition of a island ferry company for a client - operated to carry 70,000 passengers in one season - and disposal of the business to a major competitor at a significant profit, in a short period of time.
